Derbyshire Dales business briefing with Rt Hon Sir Patrick McLoughlin MP
September 29 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 amFree
The Rt Hon Sir Patrick McLoughlin MP has agreed to meet local firms over breakfast to discuss aspects affecting day-to-day operating conditions for organisations across his Derbyshire Dales constituency.
The Chamber and Business Peak District have arranged this informal opportunity to raise any concerns or observations for Westminster’s attention.
Feedback is welcomed on any plans for investment that local firms might have, as well as any difficulties that SMEs (in particular) might be experiencing with business rates, access to suitably-skilled labour, broadband connectivity, or rising inflation costs, for example.
The main aim is to gauge localised business confidence against a backdrop of ongoing political instability and economic uncertainty, as the Brexit negotiations continue. Specific support needed to encourage the growth of SMEs operating in a rural context will also be considered.
At a grass-roots level, members from a broad range of sectors are actively encouraged to raise any issues requiring Westminster’s attention, so that the Chamber and Business Peak District accurately reflect the needs of businesses in the Derbyshire Dales.
Now Chairman of the Conservative Party, Sir Patrick has held a number of positions in government; he was appointed as Chief Whip in the Coalition government, following the 2010 General Election, before becoming Secretary of State for Transport, between September 2012-July 2016.
Outside of politics, he worked for five years as a farm worker and, after 1979, worked underground at the Littleton Colliery in Cannock. He was a member of the National Union of Mineworkers, and also an industrial representative for the National Coal Board’s Western Area Marketing Department.
This meeting takes place in the boardroom of the Arkwright Society, Cromford Mills.
Free to attend and with a limited number of places available, delegates are asked to follow the weblink and complete the online booking form to reserve a place.
Kindly note that preference will be given to firms operating within the Derbyshire Dales.
This meeting is being co-ordinated in partnership with Business Peak District.
